🌅Summer Solstice Blessings🌅
Spent a lovely summer solstice and International Day of Yoga with a bunch of amazing women, giving our thanks to the sun and welcoming in the dark.
Planting our seeds of intentions and releasing what no longer serves us.
Everyone who came brought a piece of nature for our mandala and Claire from @taylormadeholistics opened and closed our gathering with two beautiful readings.
Thankfully the animals behaved. 😂
Heart is well and truly full. 🧡

Solstice blessings, beautiful woman!
Looks amazing, gutted I missed it 💕💕
Awh so sorry I missed it 💕
Speak it loud and clear
Despite the shock on their faces
The sniggers and the eye rolls
Speak it despite the oppression
The shame and the silence
Speak it for your mothers
Your grandmothers, your daughters
Speak it for the women locked up in asylums
Frightened and afraid
Speak it for the old hags, the witches, the crones
The invisible and the forgotten
Speak it for the women suffering
With pain, heat and tears
Speak it for the women
Who could no longer carry on
Who left their jobs, their marriages, their lives
Speak it for the women
Who feel like they are going crazy
With no access to support and care
Speak it until it becomes
A daily word, a common word
Like breakfast, birthday and blue
Speak it until it becomes
A revered word, a respected word
Like mother, mountain and moon
Speak it until it is welcomed
Like an old, dear friend
Speak it until it shines
Like ruby, like jade
(With thanks to Orlaith O'Sullivan - Mindfulness, whose Poetry Retreat and gentle holding enabled me to share these words. Also inspired by Nikita Gill’s words “Some days I am more wolf than woman, and I am still learning how to stop apologising for my wild.”)

A transitional season, lasting for only one month, Early Summer is here. 🙌 (I know it doesn’t feel like it quite yet, but I’m forever hopeful) 🤞
Early Summer is all about connection.
What do you want to connect with?
Who do you want to connect with?
Where will you make these connection?
Making time in the week to do something fun or creative just for you.
Early Summer feels like the support act before the main event. 🤩
I’d love to know what Early Summer feels like to you.

🙌♥️BY 40, OUR MIDDLE FINGER IS AT HALF-MAST...
By 50, it’s full on UP.
By 60, both of those fingers are hoisted,
and not a single care is given any more.
I mean, we care about our family, our friends and our passions.
We care about the environment.
We care about equality and living in peace.
But we don’t care about ‘fitting in’ and we don’t care about what people think of us.
Too many years were wasted on that.
We certainly don’t care to stay quiet, or bite our tongues,
we haven’t wasted all these life lessons to play dumb when the situation calls for our wisdom.
Neither do we care if our waistline is the acceptable size or if our thighs are toned and unblemished.
We have wrinkles, we have stretch marks, we have war wounds, warts and all.
And we are rocking each and every one of them in all their glory.
You see, there comes a time in every woman’s life where you realise that this is it.
This is the time to be alive.
To live without restriction or oppression.
To break free of the chains society binds us with and tear loose.
This is our time to be completely and totally who we were supposed to be along.
The sooner you get there, the better.
Life waits for no woman.

Love it 😍
You might have heard me mention Ayurveda before. As my interest and studies in this fascinating way of living grows, you'll hear me mention it more and more going forward.
So what is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda translates as "the science of life" or the "knowledge of longevity".
Who doesn't want to live a long, healthy life, right?
Included in the Vedas (a collection of texts containing passages and hymns, which include the original yoga practices), the written texts of Ayurveda have only been available in the past 5000 years, but thought to have originated as an oral tradition much, much, earlier.
The three Doshas of Ayurveda can help us understand who we are and it remains unchanged throughout our lives.
However, the way we interact on daily basis, external factors such as the weather and the environment, what we eat, what we think, etc can cause us to feel imbalanced and this may show up in physically, emotionally or mentally.
So, what are the three Doshas:
Vata (Air & Ether) 🌪
The Vata person is slender, has a thin frame and doesn't tend to gain weight easily.
They are flighty, creative, quick talkers who enjoys change.
Quite often they will forget to eat.
When out of balance they may feel anxious, ungrounded, suffer from insomnia, dry skin, hair.
Pitta (Fire & Water) 🔥
The Pitta person is normally of medium build and is generally quite strong. They have a strong metabolism and a good appetite.
They are focused, determined, fiery, make good leaders but can be prone to burnout.
When out of balance they can be quick tempered, easily frustrated, bossy and may suffer from heartburn, inflammed joints, skin etc.
KAPHA (Earth & Water) 🌊
The Kapha person is usually curvaceous, has strong bones and soft skin.
They are steady, loyal, wise and will put other people before themselves.
They dislike change and can be indecisive.
When out of balance that can become attached to people or material objects, suffer from low mood and procrastination.
Do you recognise yourself in any of the Doshas? ... See MoreSee Less
Definitely. Thanks for sharing x
Kapha for me.... ❤️
I’ve had some more enquiries about seasonal yoga classes, so wondered if anyone would be interested in coming along?
The options would be:
~Wednesday, 6-7pm in the Dobbie Hall
~Thursday, 7-8pm in the Scout Hall
If this appeals to you, could you let me know if you’d like to attend and which day suits you. (I’ll go with the majority if there is enough interest).
Would be looking to commence the classes in June.

If you come to a class with me and you hear me say any of the following (which I often do)😄:
“Listen to your own body”.
“If something doesn’t feel right, please don’t do it.”
“This is your practise, what I offer are only suggestions”
Then this is why. 👇🏼👏 ... See MoreSee Less
Tranquil Menopause Meet Ups Are Back. 🤩
I’ve had a lot of people asking for these again and I’m pleased to say the monthly meet ups will start again in June.
Menopause can be difficult to navigate, and for some women it can be devastatingly debilitating!
I watched the @davinamccall programme last night and could relate to a lot of things that came up.
A couple of years ago, there were days when I simply had no idea how I was going to make it through the day.
I never really told anyone how bad I truly felt and when I did finally speak to my husband I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
And here’s the thing, Menopause can be really fucking empowering as well.
Wouldn’t it be great if we started to have these kind of conversations too? 🥰
The monthly meet ups are a safe space for open, honest, shared experiences to happen.
Where we can come together and never feel alone.
From time to time guest speakers will come along and share their areas of expertise to help with some of the symptoms that may arise.
Oh, there will also be cake. 🧁
The spaces are limited to 10 women, so everyone has a chance to participate if they wish.
The next meet up will be on Thursday 16th June from 7-8.30pm.
We will meet in @skapa_falkirk, a beautiful studio in the centre of Falkirk with parking close by.
Tickets are £7 and includes tea/coffee and cake.
Please get in touch if you’d like to come along.

Can't see the Wood for the Trees? 🌳
In TCM, the Liver is linked to the eyes, so in terms of the Wood element, it is responsible for healthy vision.
A Liver imbalance can show up as eye problems, or a lack of inner vision.
Take some time daily to practice the following eye exercises:
🌱Begin by blinking the eyes rapidly several times.
Then with the eyes open:
🌱Look up and down
🌱Look from side to side
🌱Look diagonally from top left to bottom right
🌱Look diagonally from top right to bottom left
🌱Move the eyes clockwise then anticlockwise
🌱Hold out your arm in front of you. Look at the tip of your index finger, and gradually bring it towards you, following it with your eyes until it touches your "third eye", between the eyebrows
Close your eyes tight shut and then release.
🌱Finally rub the palms of the hands together and place them over your closed eyes. Stay here for a few breaths enjoying the warmth.
Begin to blink the eyes open and slowly allow the hands to slide down your face.
I'd love to hear how you get on. 🥰 ... See MoreSee Less
Last night I was back teaching face to face group yoga classes and it was just bloody wonderful. ☺️
I’m feeling very lucky today and super thankful to all of the women who came along to both the menopause yoga class and the seasonal yoga class.
I can’t wait to do it all again next week.

Nice to be able to see face’s again, great class 🥰
More than yoga….☺️
Is how past attendees have described my retreat.
I am loving sharing these small gatherings with like minded women who want to get away for a couple of days and nourish themselves with good food, great conversations, laughter, walks along the coastal path and of course yoga.
If this sounds like something you fancy, I’ve produced a Retreat Guide so you get a sample of how the weekend will look.
Check out the link in my bio and send me a DM if you have any questions.
My next retreat is on Friday 13th-15th May.
The focus of this retreat will be menopause, however it is open to any woman, whether you are in the stages of menopause or not.
I still have a couple of spaces left, so if you fancy a weekend of self care by the sea, I’d love to share space with you. 🥰

I've been fairly quiet on here recently with regards to Menopause and there's a couple of reasons for that:
1. Menopause overwhelm is real.
It feels like it's everywhere. And while it's great to see so many more people having open and honest discussions, I've seen some right shitty stuff as well.
So I guess I stepped back. (would anyone be interested in what I had to say anyway?)🤷♀️
A GP friend of mine recently told me that in her clinic she has seen the HRT pendulum completely swing the other way. (Nobody would touch HRT before and now everyone wants it).
Remember not all symptoms are directly related to menopause and you should seek advice from your health care professional if at all worried.
2. I had a lot of my own shit to process and felt I couldn't be fully present to help others.
Lately I have had to let go of situations and people that were no longer serving me. Truth be told, they were draining and some of them downright toxic.
Working through that takes a whole lot of energy and is exhausting.
However, Second Spring feels like a gift.
There is a sense of freedom and vulnerability that happens when you really no longer care what other people think of you.
Second Spring doesn't have to be rigid and fixed.
I'm here to nurture and nourish the seeds I choose to sow at this time.
I'm here for the flexibility and growth in whatever direction I want to take.
I'm here for Me, which in turn means I can be here for You. ❤️ ... See MoreSee Less
